Born 9 May 1671 in Amesbury Essex Massachusetts. Samuel was in the Northern Regiment of Essex Co under Captain Thomas Harvey. The Snowshoe Men were the New England militia that patrolled and protected the northern border settlements during the long winters during the French and Indians wars of the late 17th to the middle of the 18th centuries.
