ENGLISH STERLING TRAY 1868 HUNT & ROSKELL - 61 OUNCES A very fine 1868 British sterling silver scroll foot salver. From the Royal Silversmiths John Hunt & Robert Roskell. The firm traces their roots to the renowned Paul Storr in 1819.

Hunt & Roskell formed 1843, granted their Royal Warrant to Queen Victoria shortly thereafter. They exhibited at the 1851 Great Exhibition at the Crystal Palace, London and the New York 1853 and Paris 1867 World Expositions, and received considerable reviews.

The Chippendale border scroll foot salver is beautifully hand decorated with Old Man of the Forest (or if you prefer Green Man) masks with rolling vine crown, united by interwoven leaf and vine, swirling foliage and partial cobblestone manor walls. This 1868 British sterling salver is a touch over 16 inches.

And weighs 61 standard ounces. Retains, the original hand decorated detail.
