QUEEN'S ROSETTE PATTERN with OYSTER HEEL SIX SILVER VICTORIAN TEASPOONS LONDON 1844. This set of six is double stamped with the Oyster heel variant of Queen's Rosette. Makers: Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater - well known for this design.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a set of fine quality teaspoons by two of the most famous and well-documented silversmiths of the early Victorian period. Condition: They are in well-polished, clean and useable condition with no damage whatsoever and no signs of any repairs.
However, they do show very minor surface scratches, consistent with age and use, under magnification. There is some slight wear to the oyster shell heel on all the spoons. They have clearly been well used because the spoon tips are not as thick and pointed as they would originally have been. The bowl of one spoon is very slightly distorted because of the thinning of the silver. Hallmarks: Leopard's Head, Lion Passant, Tudor upper-case date code letter "I" and the Head of Queen Victoria.
All marks are sharp and clear and deeply impressed. They are followed by the makers' mark SH.Weight: 196g Length: 14.5cm / 5.75.
