Rare Queen Anne sterling silver sugar tongs, made in London ca 1705. This is a fine pair of silver sugar tongs made in the reign of Queen Anne by Henry Greene circa 1705. The sugar tongs are of classic shape with ring handles and a superb round ringed central axis. The sugar tongs are 1-1/2 inches / 38 mm wide across the closed ring handles and 4-1/4 inches / 108 mm long. The tongs weigh 17 grams.The sugar tongs have maker's mark only for Henry Greene, whose mark was registered in 1700 and who was active 1701 - 1709. The sugar tongs are in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.
